From Farm to Table: Making Humane Choices
By Harry Rhodes, Executive Director
Fall and winter can be the perfect time to reflect on where your food comes from. Have you ever thought about where your groceries are sourced? Maybe you’re a dedicated farmers market shopper, but what happens when the season ends? Do you support a CSA, or do most of your purchases come from the grocery store?
No matter where you shop, it’s important to remember that all food comes from farms. While most U.S. farms are small and independent, the majority of our food comes from large industrial agriculture. That's why FACT is working tirelessly to transform the food system—so that all food-producing animals are raised humanely, and everyone has access to safe, ethically sourced products.
One of our long-time supporters, Rena Schilsky, recently shared her experience: “I have supported your organization for many years and I am so glad to see that you are truly making an impact…I am seeing more humanely sourced products at our local supermarkets. Thank you all for helping this cause and hopefully, someday soon making it a true reality.”
We hear from many consumers like Rena who say that grocery shopping can be a confusing task. Labels are often hard to understand, and deciphering the ingredients takes time. That’s why we’ve updated our consumer resources to help you make more informed choices. Whether you're navigating labels or looking for trustworthy sources, our newly revamped guides will help you make empowered decisions. You can explore these helpful tools at FACT's consumer resources.
We’re so grateful to share these resources with you, and we couldn’t do it without your continued support. Please consider making a donation to FACT to ensure that all animals are raised humanely and that safe, healthy food is available to all.
Thank you for supporting our work!
