Please note: all of the information below is self-reported by the individual farms. FACT has not visited the farms or verified their practices and protocols. All farms listed indicated that their turkeys are processed and stored according to state rules and regulations.

Additional information: We start day-old turkey poults in the summer so they are ready for Thanksgiving! Our flocks are started indoors until fully feathered, then moved to pasture. Turkeys forage as they move around the pasture and their diet is supplemented with organic grains from a local mill. We are raising both heritage birds (blacks) as well as the more common breed, broad breasted whites, the traditional turkey found during the holidays.

Additional information: All of our animals are fed certified organic grain and make use of as much range as is possible, for their health and for maximum farm fertility. Our birds live in movable shelters and are moved to new range 6 times per week. Turkeys are supplemented with fresh cut comfrey as we have it available. Choose between a hen (approx. 14-18 lbs.) or a tom (approx. 20-24 lbs.) when placing your order. The turkeys will cost $6/lb. and will be available to pick up on November 23 and 24. Our heritage turkeys are able to free range over 7 acres of pasture and forage for a large part of their diet including fruits, nuts, and seeds. All of our pasture-raised heritage meats are processed at a USDA inspected facility, which uses animal welfare approved processes. For more information please visit our website: www.dokofarm.org. Heritage breed birds are slow growing. These Bourbon Red turkeys will likely dress out between 8 and 15 pounds. Additional information: We have half of our birds processed by a USDA facility so that they can be frozen and it is easier to get birds to people with more flexibility on pick up days. The other half with process ourselves a couple weeks prior to T-day and our customers can freeze the birds and thaw a couple days before T-day. We have fenced areas (healthy pasture) at about 1/2 acre that are completely fenced with netting to prevent predators from getting the birds. We have about 20 in each pen. They are also fed fresh produce from the garden. We separate the boys and girls to cut down on fighting

Additional information: I raise turkeys on rotational pasture with other chickens, ducks and guinea fowl. Usually following behind my goats on rotational pasture. They turkeys are put away at night in a portable shelter, but have full access to pasture and woods during the day. I process on farm the day of pick-up for customers. Though I do offer USDA inspected processing at Pine Creek Processing just 4 miles away. I have been raising pastured poultry since 2010. And have offered on farm processed birds since that date
