Raising Dairy Sheep for Exceptional Milk

February 18, 2025 1pm ET

Sheep milk has a lot going for it: it's creamier and higher in protein than cow and goat milk, tends to be more digestible for people who can't tolerate other milks, and is the basis for many of the world's greatest cheeses.

Carrie and Brent Wasser from Willow Pond Sheep Farm will discuss some of the key things to understand when you're starting to milk sheep: the options for weaning lambs, the equipment needed for milking, the unique nutritional needs of dairy ewes, and how to prevent mastitis in your flock. They'll also share some ideas for how to market sheep's milk.
