2022 Funded Projects
In 2022, FACT awarded 60 Fund-a-Farmer Grants totaling over $170,000 to farmers located in 27 states. Since 2012, FACT has cumulatively awarded 521 grants totaling over $857,000 to farmers across 44 states, directly benefiting an estimated 735,000 animals. Grants for farmers seeking or holding animal welfare certification (sponsored by the ASPCA):
American Flock Farms in Rushville, Indiana received a grant for $1700 to rent a seeder and purchasing alfalfa, orchard grass, and red clover to incorporate rotational grazing with sheep and improve soil health.
Ardent Acres Farm in Palisade, Minnesota received a grant for $3000 to install solar powered water access for beef cattle in order to eliminate damage to natural surface water source.
Bar-A Ranch in Normangee, Texas received a grant for $2965 to purchase of irrigation supplies, pasture renovating implements, natural liquid fertilizer (rabbit tea), and equipment rental to increase grazing footprint for beef cattle.
BOTL Farm in Ashford, Connecticut received a grant for $3000 to purchase materials (hard panels, fencing, gates, shelter parts) to build winter infrastructure (corrals, shelters) to increase the number of pigs, goats, and sheep raised.
Callywood Farms in Westminster, South Carolina received a grant for $2975 to re-open pig pasture that was shut down after tornado destruction, bolstering infrastructure to better aid rotational grazing, creating a "finishing" area, building new shelters, reinforcing loading areas, and reseeding pasture/grazing areas for chickens and pigs.
Crow Fly Farms in Marion, North Carolina received a grant for $3000 to purchase and install additional perimeter fencing will allow guardian dogs, cattle, sheep, and hogs access to previously unuseable areas, increasing the the available forage.
Final Frontier Farm in Paris, Kentucky received a grant for $3000 to purchase a mobile digital weighing system to track lamb weights.
Four Hills Farm in Versailles, Kentucky received a grant for $3000 to purchase electronic identification tags (EID), EID stick reader, and EID scale indicator to efficiently gather and store animal management data to be used to improve sheep production of lambs raised on pasture.
Graze The Prairie in Latham, Kansas received a grant for $1751 to utilize high stock density with timed cattle moves to impact and reduce the occurance of lance leaf ragweed (Ambrosia bidentata).
Halal-N-Tayyib Meat Shares in Macon, Georgia received a grant for $3000 to purchase material to build four chicken tractors to raise broilers on pasture.
Harris Cattle Company, LLC in New Orleans, Louisiana received a grant for $3000 to install a cattle chute in order to treat and care for grass-fed angus cattle.
High Desert Hogs in Sisters, Oregon received a grant for $3000 to purchase IBC (intermediate bulk container) totes for high capacity water storage and purchase mobile shelters and farrowing pens for pigs on pasture.
Jóia Food Farm in Charles City, Iowa received a grant for $3000 to purchase mobile handling equipment to sort and handle growing sheep flock safely and more efficiently with less stress on animal and humans.
Rolling Pastures Ranch in Henagar, Alabama received a grant for $3000 to install additional water stations to providing water at each pasture, eliminating the need for sheep to walk back to water sources via alleyways.
Serendipity Farms in Wolverine, Michigan received a grant for $2996 to contruct a watering facility for forest raised pigs.
Slow Farm in Cameron, North Carolina received a grant for $3000 to build six sturdy pasture shelters with wood floors to keep rotationally pastured pigs dry and healthy year round.
Souder Station Farm in Winterport, Maine received a grant for $3000 to install underground piping and 2 frost free hydrant close to the farrowing barn and holding barn to supply more consistent water to pigs year round.
Tucker's Black Angus Ranch in North lawrence, New York received a grant for $3000 to purchase an ATV Calf Catcher that will enable quick and safe handling of the calf while keeping the farmer safe from the mother and other nearby cows.
Waterline Farm in Pryor, Oklahoma received a grant for $3000 to expand pasture-raised sheep, goat, hog, chicken, turkey, duck operation by improving fencing and access to water.

7 Lazy A Ranch in Thatcher, Arizona received a grant for $3,000 to replace non working water supply to allow use of additional grazing range for beef cattle.
Alchemy Farms and Plants, LLC in Hampton Cove, Alabama received a grant for $3,000 to purchase, build and install portable electric fencing and mobile shelters to rotationally graze Gulf Coast Native sheep and heritage laying hens on pasture.
Baseline Farm in Dexter, Michigan received a grant for $1,110 to grow more high quality forage by moving beef cattle herd four times a day, with programmable fencing technology.
Bennett Family Farms in Adel, Georgia received a grant for $2,995 to add a lane to move beef cattle into the working facility; redesign a portion of fence from a previous project to better protect wetlands; add an alternate water source by extending a line from existing well.
Black Ranch in Williams, Arizona received a grant for $2,900 to purchase portable electric fencing and animal housing for the rotational grazing of poultry, sheep, and swine
Broadview Farm and Gardens in Marengo, Illinois received a grant for $3,000 to purchase electric fence netting, and additional poultry tractors to expand and integrate broiler chickens into annual cropping cycle.
Bugtussle Farm in Gamaliel, Kentucky received a grant for $3,000 to installing perimeter fence to increase available pasture for our sheep, cattle, and laying hens, and protect them from predation, both wild and domestic, as well as keeping them off of the road.
Collins Farm LLC in Rome, New York received a grant for $3,000 to install and repair fencing to allow dairy cows in freestall access to pasture.
Enos Farms in Spring Green, Wisconsin received a grant for $3,000 to extend buried water line to a remote pasture hub to give pigs year-round access to an additional 40 acres of pasture and lengthen rotations.
Eyrie Summit Farm, LLC in Hamptonville, North Carolina received a grant for $3,000 to provide rotational grazing and protection from predators for all farm animals to access areas never before grazed, increase foraging, and increase fertilization through manure deposits (cows, goats, pigs, and chickens).
Florida Best Nursery, Inc. in Inverness, Florida received a grant for $2,388 to implement insect control measures for 100 head of cattle on pasture.
Graylight Farm in East Chatham, New York received a grant for $3,000 to establish an efficient rotational grazing system for pasture raised pigs by installing fencing, posts, panels, gates, and concrete for a hub.
Honor Bound Farm in Maxwell, Nebraska received a grant for $1,094 to install a water line and hydrant near the pasture to start rotationally grazing pigs.
Jones Farm in Cuba, Alabama received a grant for $3,000 to provide a healthy and sustainable environment for sheep, goats, cows and egg producing poultry, through the use of improved pastures, shelters, feeding and watering systems, which will include the installation of concrete pads, hay racks, portable feed
K&L Organics in South Wayne, Wisconsin received a grant for $2,022 to upgrade pastures with permanent and with solar fencing charger and poly rope, to increase forage utilization by sheep.
Lydia's Flock Icelandic and Shetland Sheep in Bellingham, Washington received a grant for $3,000 to add a winter housing shelter for flock of Icelandic breeding ewes.
Mayday Farm in Leeds, Maine received a grant for $3,000 to build out grazing infrastructure (water and fencing) to bring an additional 38 acres of pasture into rotational grazing system to enhance grazing practices for dairy cows and broiler chickens.
Medicine Creek Farm in Finlayson, Minnesota received a grant for $1,750 to install a culvert and gravel ditch crossing to access low fertility pasture for winter bale grazing beef cattle and sheep
Moxie Ridge Farm in Fort Edward, New York received a grant for $2,934 to increase pasture for meat goats, dairy goats, and sheep by purchasing portable electric fencing and t-posts to expand rotational grazing for goats and sheep.
Muse 3 Farm LLC in Greensburg, Louisiana received a grant for $3,000 to extend the farm's multi-species grazing effort by adding a mobile chicken coop to allow chickens to graze in the pastures with cattle, goats and sheep, and extending water supply to other paddocks that do not have a fresh source of water.
North Sky Farm LLC in Springfield, Illinois received a grant for $3,000 to purchase a Greg Judy hay bale-unroller to regenerate 60 acres of low fertility land through hay-bombing.
Outlaw Acres Farm in Clyde, North Carolina received a grant for $3,000 to purchase materials to build chicken tractors to provide a safe, clean, and mobile area to raise broiler chickens and transition to a fully pasture/orchard raised poultry production system.
Plow and Stars Farm in Poolesville, Maryland received a grant for $3,000 to purchase seed, semi-permanent fencing, and other infrastructure to convert 20 acres of row crop land into rotationally grazed pasture to expand available improved pasture for sheep and poultry production while providing habitat for grassland birds and ins
Pork & Greens in Troy, New York received a grant for $3,000 to provide sturdy, mobile housing for pigs to improve welfare and allow for greater range in pasture rotation.
Pumpkin Vine Family Farm, LLC in Somerville, Maine received a grant for $3,000 to purchase portable fencing and solar chargers to rotationally graze dairy goats, bucks and kids in three separate paddocks.
Pure Pasture Farms in Springfield, Tennessee received a grant for $2,967 to improve the quality and health of the soils and forage by planting seed for grasses and legumes complimentary for pasture-raised sheep, chickens, ducks and turkeys.
Raven & Boar Farm in East Chatham, New York received a grant for $3,000 to purchase and installation of 10 gates in order to begin rotating use of additional acreage in accordance with existing grazing plan on 6,100 feet of recently completed high-tensile fencing for silvopasture pigs.
River Valley Country Club in Seattle, Washington received a grant for $2,784 to purchase portable fencing and pasture seed to expand and grow pasture where sheep, chickens, ducks, turkeys, and geese can rotationally graze.
Roach Family Farm in Vevay, Indiana received a grant for $3,000 to replace an old, brittle perimeter fence to create larger units that are secure from predators and improve rotational pasturing of goats, cattle, chickens and turkeys with both woven wire perimeter fence and portable fencing.
Rogue Artisan Foods in Jacksonville, Oregon received a grant for $3,000 to improve current fencing and rotational grazing paddocks for goats and pigs, plus add in movable electric fencing for goats in areas that cannot have permanent fence.
Rx Grazing Services LLC in Lewis, Colorado received a grant for $3,000 to purchase fencing supplies to increase number of pastures available for goats to graze rotationally during the kidding season.
Saudade Farms in Sherburne, New York received a grant for 3000 to Pasture improvement through purchase of mobile shelters and electric fencing for rotational grazing of sheep and pigs.
Shat Acres Highland Cattle, LLC in Plainfield, Vermont received a grant for $2,820 to apply organic wood ash and soil enhancements to pasture, resulting in higher quality and quantity of feed for Grass Fed and Finished beef program.
Silver Shade Ranch in Eagle Bend, Minnesota received a grant for $3,000 to install a frost free winter watering site to utilize remote pasture with bale grazing for beef cattle.
Southern Sunny Acres in Winona, Texas received a grant for $3,000 to double pasture access for broiler chickens by purchasing a mobile range coop.
Sparkplug Farm in Leeds, Maine received a grant for $3,000 to bury current water line to provide year round access to water in pasture for beef cattle, laying hens and pigs.
Terra Vitae Farms in Woodstock, Illinois received a grant for $3,000 to purchase infrastructure for a pasture raised, broiler chicken enterprise, specifically a large mobile unit to move through our pastures daily.
The Nation's Farm in Covington, Georgia received a grant for $3,000 to install a perimeter fence, and extend access to broiler chickens, laying hens, and sheep for grazing.
The Smiling Farm in Winston Salem, North Carolina received a grant for $2,917 to purchase high tensile wire fencing & T posts to rotationally graze beef cattle and install piping to supply water to beef cattle on pasture.
Willow-Wist Farm in Sequim, Washington received a grant for 3000 to Modular rotational grazing system to enhance pasture management for grazing efficiency of dairy cows and beef cattle, animal comfort and welfare, and increase carbon sequestration.
Woven Stars Farm in Ghent, New York received a grant for $3,000 to purchase materials to improve pastured chicken operation by replacing individual chicken tractors with rotational grazing using portable fencing and a shade/water system on a movable trailer.
