FACT’s Fund-a-Farmer Grants are now OPEN!

By Samantha Gasson, FACT’s Humane Farming Program Director

Autumn is hands down my favorite season. I love everything about it from the lifting of the summer haze to the comfortable evenings and crisp, cool mornings. There is nothing like sitting on the front porch gazing out over flower beds packed full of colorful dahlias and cows peacefully chewing their cuds as they lounge in full sun, legs stretched out as if to catch every warm ray. It’s a fabulous time of year.

It’s also an exciting time here at FACT with the start of our webinar season, the opening of our Fund-a-Farmer Grant cycle and Mentorship program plus the publication of our yearly Turkey Directory. It’s a good time for all things humane farming. This week we’re going to focus on our very popular Fund-a-Farmer Grants with a follow up on our Mentorship program next week.

This grant cycle is going to be a little different, we’re offering two types of Fund-a-Farmer Grants this season!

  • Fund-a-Farmer Welfare Improvement Grants up to $3,000 each

  • One Fund-a-Farmer Systems Change and Innovation Grant for up to $10,000.

Fund-a-Farmer Welfare Improvement Grants

FACT will fund $3,000 Fund-a-Farmer grants for farms looking to…

  • Improve the lives of their farm animals

  • Grants for farmers pursuing animal welfare certification to one of our approved certifying agencies

  • Grants for animal welfare certified farmers.

Underwritten by Food:Land:Opportunity, ASPCA and funded by FACT supporters like you.

Fund-a-Farmer Systems Change and Innovation Grant (New this year thanks to the fabulous support of ASPCA)

FACT will fund one $10,000 Fund-a-Farmer grant for farms looking to...

  • Develop business plans/feasibility studies for significant changes to an operation including conversion to pasture or adoption of alternative breeds

  • Install the infrastructure necessary to convert from non-pasture to pasture-based operation.

  • Adoption of alternative breeds including sourcing genetics; housing accommodations; feed changes; marketing

  • Develop Co-operative or other forms of shared marketing among pasture-based farms

Last year we distributed over $250,000 to 87 humane farms across the country. Since we launched this program in 2012, we have awarded more than $1,360,000 worth of grants to humane farmers located all over the country and in US territories.

You are part of the solution when you support FACT and Humane Farmers. Please share the good work FACT is doing with your friends, customers, and family members. We are a 501c3 non-profit organization that works to ensure that all food-producing animals are raised in a humane and healthy manner and that everyone will have access to safe and humanely produced food.

Thank you for your support!
