FACT’s Impact in 2024

2024 is set to be another very impactful year at FACT. We would like to share with you an exciting new project, as well as some of our goals for the year.

Women, Livestock, and Land Program: In partnership with the National Center for Appropriate Technology (NCAT), we are initiating a new program focusing on "Women, Livestock, and Land". It will include:

  • Workshops and Short Courses: These will be focused on pasture management, intensive rotational grazing, and multi-species grazing specific to each region in the USA.

  • Webinars: We will be developing a series of webinars focused on the issues facing new and beginning, and historically underserved farmers.

  • Field Day in a Box: We will be developing materials for farmer networks to utilize for hosting pasture walks, field days, and on-farm events that promote the benefits of pasture-based farming. This will make it easier for farmers already practicing climate-smart agriculture to share their knowledge with farmers in their networks.

Stay tuned for more information about the program coming soon.

Fund-a-Farmer Grants: This spring, we will distribute an incredible $250,000 in Fund-a-Farmer grants to farmers nationwide. The grants will be for projects that help farmers raise their animals in well-managed pasture-based systems, achieve humane certification, or build capacity on their farms.

Carbadox: We will keep up the pressure on the FDA to follow through on the commitment they made last year to ban the carcinogenic drug carbadox that is given routinely to pigs and ends up in our pork products.

All that is in addition to our ongoing efforts to support humane farmers throughout the country. These farms are a healthy, humane, and safe alternative to factory farms, where animals are treated inhumanely. We will work to continue to expand our network of more than 11,600 humane farmers to change the narrative. Humane farming should be the norm. This is what all farming should look like.

We would not be able to do this work without the amazing supporters in our network. Our Holiday Appeal is open until the end of January, so there is still time to make a donation and help us to have a bigger impact in 2024.
