FACT is looking for a Humane Farming and Communications Assistant

Position Details:

FACT (Food Animal Concerns Trust) is seeking a part-time Humane Farming Program and Communications Assistant to join our growing team. The Humane Farming Assistant will assist with implementing FACT’s Humane Farming Program and other related program services under the direction of FACT’s Humane Farming Program Manager.

FACT is a national nonprofit organization that works to ensure that all food producing animals are raised in a humane and healthy manner. We accomplish this by supporting humane farmers through our humane farming program, promoting policies that make foods from animals safe and healthy to eat through our safe and healthy food program, and generally help consumers make informed food choices.

About the Role: You will join a group of creative and resourceful individuals committed to the humane treatment of farm animals by supporting farmers using the highest humane farming standards.

Schedule and location: This is a remote position that can be performed anywhere in the United States. Work hours are flexible and can generally be performed outside of regular business hours as needed. 

Compensation: The Humane Farming Program and Communications Assistant will be compensated $24,000 a year for 20 hours a week. This position is eligible for some benefits.

Responsibilities of the role are: 

  • Scholarship Program: You will be responsible for the administration of our popular conference and workshop scholarship programming. Responsibilities include everything from reviewing applications to following up with conference organizers to providing reporting. 

  • Program support: The person filling this position will have their hands in all aspects of FACT’s Humane Farming program including assisting with our Mentorship Program as needed, our Fund-a-Farmer Grants program, our Short Courses and assisting with Webinars. 

  • Marketing and social media: This individual will help create original and exciting content for FACT’s social media with our Development and Communications Coordinator.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience: 

  • Familiarity with Canva, Excel, and Word 

  • A willingness to learn new programs and systems. A lot of the projects faced by FACT’s Humane Farming Program are new and exciting. There is very little “rinsing and repeating” in our work 

  • Attention to detail 

  • Ability to work efficiently, independently, and remotely 

  • Familiarity with social media platforms and how to best engage potential donors and farmers alike 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  

  • A positive attitude and a willingness to work within a collaborative group
